Fabio Quartararo - Eneos

Known as El Diablo, Fabio Quartararo was born in Nice on 20 April 1999. He realised his passion for motorcycle racing at the tender age of four and would soon move to Spain to develop his career with success. He competed in the national championship in the 50, 70, and 80cc categories between 2008 and 2011, before winning the pre-Moto3 national title in 2012.

In 2015 and 2016, Fabio raced in the Moto3 class before moving up to Moto2 in 2018. After two years in the class, and despite only one win, the Frenchman was promoted to the MotoGP class in 2019 as part of the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team. In his MotoGP debut year, he scored six pole positions and seven podiums (five second and two third rankings) to end his first season on a YZR-M1 in fifth place, earning him the Rookie of the Year title. The young Frenchman was even more spectacular in 2020, securing his first premier class win at Round One in Jerez, and repeating the dominant performance the next week at the same track. His third victory came in Catalunya and with four pole positions and two fastest lap records, Quartararo was unable to maintain his form throughout the season. He finished eighth in the overall standings but confirmed his enormous potential.

For the 2021 season, Quartararo had the unenviable task of replacing nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi at the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team. However, he claimed his first win with the Factory Team at only his second race with them. He went on to secure nine more podiums and four wins to claim the MotoGP World Championship. As a result, Fabio will be the man to beat in the 2022 season.
